Brine pools are underwater lakes found on the seafloor! The pools are filled with extremely salty water, known as brine, that is dense enough that it sinks below the regular seawater. The salinity in these pools is so high that most ocean creatures can't survive in it. If a fish or crab accidentally enters a pool it will quickly die.
